One of the most effective tools to improve your health is an ORAC smoothie. Most of us are familiar with fruit smoothies. Typically these smoothies are loaded with man-made sweeteners or sugar, high in calories and low in antioxidant value.

Just recently DaNae Johnson sent me a link to her website www.smoothie-handbook.com and I was impressed by what I saw and read. DaNae’s website is all about making nutritious smoothies. She doesn’t call them ORAC Smoothies but when I looked at the nutrient and antioxidant value of many of her recipes I was pleasantly surprised at their high ORAC values.
The one that immediately caught my attention was her Green Smoothie. This smoothie combines 1 cup of water with 1 large ripe banana, 1 cup of frozen blueberries, ½ cup of frozen strawberries and 5 ounces of spinach to make a nutrient powerhouse that has over 8,000 ORAC units!
